1st Ventilation Officer is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the ship's ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for passengers and crew. This includes troubleshooting, repairs, routine inspections, and preventative maintenance. The role also involves managing and developing the ventilation team, collaborating with other technical teams, and maintaining accurate records.
Key Responsibilities:
System Maintenance:
Maintaining and repairing the ship's ventilation, air conditioning (including main AC water chiller systems), and refrigeration systems.
Troubleshooting and Repairs:
Identifying and resolving issues with HVAC systems and related equipment.
Inspections and Preventative Maintenance:
Conducting regular inspections and performing preventative maintenance to ensure systems operate efficiently and safely.
Team Management:
Supervising and developing the ventilation team, ensuring work is carried out safely and efficiently.
Record Keeping:
Maintaining accurate records of all maintenance activities and environmental/health records.
Collaboration:
Working with other technical teams, including the Senior Technical Storekeeper and liaising with contractors.
Compliance:
Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with safety regulations and company policies.
Asset Management:
Supporting the Senior Engineering Technical Officer (SETO) in the maintenance and delivery of the asset management plan.
Cost Management:
Assisting in cost management and control related to ventilation and refrigeration systems.
