The full time Consular Investigator position is to go beyond simply confirming information provided by clients to developing information proactively from other sources and from direct observations off site. The findings and analysis can result in statutory ineligibles that bar a person from receiving a visa or U.S benefit. Fraud Prevention investigator may investigate questions of alien smuggling and of other criminal activities. The Fraud investigator is a documentary fraud expert (passports, ID cards, financial documents, etc.). The Fraud investigator advises Consular officers, trains new and continuing officers and Consular chief on fraud trends, including reading all types of Bulgarian documents. Develops, maintains, and presents training materials for consular section and local contacts, including law enforcement, government officials, travel agents, universities and other.
